Do you see the words second death in Revelation 20 KJV? God is light and fire. . Who do you think is fire to? Hebrews 12:29 for our " God is a consuming fire." 1 John 1:5 - This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. The violent wicked liars will be around the city of God seeing God's light as if it was fire and brimstone. That light turns the wicked into the lake of fire burning them up more completely than any fire. Malachi 4:3“And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.” KJV Cambridge editon 1611. Eternal punishment is eternal soul death. The certain rich man was a parable. The last conflict - Armageddon is around the city of God. Visualize that. There would be no ashes for the wicked to walk on. They would be traipsing to and from the city of God going right past people writhing in pain in burning flames hearing their agonizing cries all throughout eternity had what you say be true.
