Science of Why Crank Length Matters (Effect on power cadence comfort) (a...

False. People are not thinking about the leg of the rider.  A shorter crank means a smaller circle for the feet to move in. A longer crank will mean slower RPMs. A shorter Crank will mean faster RPM. You need to get used to the shorter crank to  pedal smoothly.  It is much more comfortable to pedal out of the saddle with a short crank. A short crank will feel like you are walking up a hill rather than pedaling up a hill.  I did that with Murray cranks at the 155 MM setting.  I gave up on them because the area where the pedal attaches is to soft.  A person on a leg press Machin can push more weight in a short stroke rather than a longer stroke.  A person cannot move the same weight with his legs compressed against his body pushing out than when his legs are not compressed against his body. A shorter range of movement moves more weight.
