It is beards in the KJV. God is giving loving advice. can you imagine a full beard with a chunk taken out of each side?
The word Hypocrite was misinterpreted. Proverbs 11:9:An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
Unto the dead. People were worshiping the dead. The reasons people marked their flesh then is different than why people do that today.

A man in the Bible humbled a woman had sex before marriage. He paid the father a sum of money. He was married when that money was accepted. The woman at the well was divorced 5 times not being married to the man she was living with. Jesus did not condemn her. The Bible says that Marriage is honorable.
The woman lied. Who wants liars?

Jesus in a person will respect their parents. Can you imagine a kid who does not respect their parents not have Jesus in them? Imagine that multiplied. Horrors.
Swearing was giving an oath that God did not want people to give in the bible. Matthew 5:34-37King James Version (KJV)
